The EDFI Management Company is currently looking to hiring an EU Mandate Expert responsible for developing and intensifying the relationship between the European Commission, EDFI asbl and members and EDFI MC. This person will report directly to the Managing Director.
Support and advise the EDFI MC Managing Director, the strategy team and the operational teams on the implementation of existing EU mandates and the development of new EU mandates and programs;
Proactively contribute to the development and implementation of EDFI MC’s strategic plan (mandate management and mandate acquisition), participating as necessary in the research, identification of new opportunities of collaboration with the EU;
Build working relationships and consult regularly with the development cooperation part of the EC (in Brussels and in EU Delegations) and other relevant EC services to identify opportunities for EDFI MC to work with the EU, in close cooperation with EDFI asbl and its members’ development finance institutions;
Coordinate and build working relationships with other relevant counterparts, such as EDFI asbl and its members’ development finance institutions on a variety of issues relevant to the design and implementation of EU mandates by EDFI MC;
Monitor and report on the legislative and regulatory work of the EU institutions to alert EDFI MC (and its constituents) on evolution that could have an impact on them. Make known EDFI MC views to relevant counterpart in the development cooperation part of the EC.
Work closely with EDFI colleagues to provide expertise and input for their interactions with the European Commission, including regular coaching and advice.
Manage the preparation and the implementation of the application and contracting process for new mandates, as well as amendments to existing mandates, with the European Commission (EC), working closely with EDFI MC’s legal and operational teams.
Manage the preparation and presentation of internal approval documentation related to EU mandates;
Coordinate and monitor the implementation, potential amendments and completion of these mandates;
Coordinate and monitor all EDFI MC reporting to the EC (both standard reporting and ad hoc requests);
Participate in internal and external meetings, monitor discussions and financing plans, to warrant alignment between the EC and EDFI MC;
The ideal EU Mandate Expert is a professional with proven and successful experience in international economics as well as political and legal affairs with the following profile:
University degree in finance, policy, law, business administration, economics or other relevant course of study,
At least 10 years of professional experience with a minimum of 3 years (ideally more) of experience working with the European Commission, preferably at DEVCO, and with a good knowledge of inter-institutional decision-making processes,
Previous involvement in the field of EU Financial Instruments, budgetary guarantees and EU interinstitutional decision-making processes would be a strong advantage.
With good knowledge of the development finance sector,
Strong interpersonal and communications skills, public service mind-set,
Well-organised and diligent with a demonstrated track-record of professional results,
Team player with ability to work in multi-cultural environment,
Language: fluent English + either French or German
